Who We Are

We enable children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing to face life’s challenges and reach their potential

Deaf Children Australia employs over 60 staff and volunteers who, together with our Board of Directors, are united in their desire to remove barriers to the personal development and social inclusion faced by children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Deaf Children Australia provides a range of services to families with deaf and hard of hearing children. These services are developed in consultation with families.

We work hard to promote opportunities for families and children to:

– access unbiased information,
– get connected with each other,
– participate in peer to peer support,
– access community, recreational and youth activities,
– engage counselling support , and to
– develop skills in advocacy, relationship building and influence

Deaf Children Australia strives to provide high quality services, and we welcome your feedback on all aspects of our service delivery.
Our aim is to constantly review and improve our ways of working with families.

Our Mission

To inspire and empower deaf and hard of hearing children and young people to reach their full potential

Our Vision

To create a world where children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing have every opportunity to achieve positive life outcomes

Our Values

In achieving DCA’s vital work, our organisation, staff and volunteers uphold the following values:

Respectful

DCA respects and promotes the rights of deaf and hard of hearing children and young people, and supports them, their family members and all those around them to make informed choices and enable them to fully participate in the community at all stages of their lives.

Accountable

We are primarily accountable to deaf and hard of hearing children, young people and their families for our decisions and actions, and also accountable to our stakeholders. DCA strives to act with integrity and transparency at all times.

Co-operative

DCA is committed to addressing the disadvantage experienced by deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. DCA’s goal is to partner to assist in achieving our vision and providing the best possible support for children and young people and their families.

Committed to Service

DCA is a collaborative, diverse and inclusive organisation. We strive to base our work on evidence, empowering deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. DCA seeks contemporary approaches to providing unbiased support, whilst at the same time advancing knowledge and skills in the field.

Real Kids, Real Stories

DCA endeavours to use genuine client photos in all its promotional materials and online publications, except when client privacy is a concern. Photos used on the DCA website and social media channels are taken during the course of our work – during recreation events and activities, during client sessions or when on visits with families.
