The first driver workshop was held at DCA on 23 February.
In the workshop CRUDE Ultimate Driving Education Instructor Courtenay covered road rules, basic driving skills as well as what is in a car. The participants also got a change to drive in CRUDE’s simulator.
The young deaf and hard of hearing were supported by interpreters, DCA staff and captioning during the workshop.
Thanks to funding from RACV Community Foundation for the Pilot program. You can read more about the program here.
The intellectual property from the pilot program will be available to other driving instruction providers to make their services accessible to deaf or hard of hearing clients. By providing the intellectual property, we hope that more young people who are deaf or hard of hearing will have the opportunity to learn to drive under the supervision of expert instructors and receive their P’s faster.
