Volunteer Vacancy – Fundraising Events Co-Ordinator (Part-time)

News Article

    Are you looking for a unique volunteer role in events co-ordinating that is creative, flexible and in an amazing St Kilda Rd location?
    Deaf Children Australia is a Not-For Profit charity and our purpose is to inspire and enable deaf or hard of hearing children and young people to reach their full potential.

    DCA is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join our development and fundraising department. The new team member will be focused on co-ordinating fundraising events and will be involved in the creation of new initiatives, project planning and supporting the development of business relationships. With support you will organise volunteer recruitment for events if required. This is a role you can make your own and we offer great flexibility. We envisage a person might assist around 8-10 hours per week. This can be undertaken on-site around 5 hours a week and then possibly you may prefer to undertake another 3-5 hours from home anytime you like. Due to the training involved and how long it takes to develop and deliver projects we would appreciate that you could commit to a minimum of 10 months volunteering. More detail about what is involved for this particular role is listed on the attached job description.

    This role is ideal for someone with a background in events management. You may be semi-retired or a student at Uni in your last year looking for that opportunity to build your skills. DCA offer a supportive, creative environment where your efforts can lead directly to funding some amazing projects that can change the lives for young deaf/hard of hearing children and young people.

    What you can expect to get out of volunteering in this role;
    • Great experience and the opportunity to work with a very dedicated, enthusiastic team
    • Free training about the deaf sector and the chance to learn Auslan (sign-language) if you are interested
    • Referee support if you go well in the role which could help you land that career role
    • DCA will cover costs for both a police check and working with children check
    • Most importantly a sense of making a difference and you will see your direct efforts lead to programs/initiatives being funded that would otherwise not happen.

    If you are keen to apply for this role please send in your resume and a letter of application outlining;
    • Why you would be great for the role
    • Highlight your skills and experience
    • List your availability

    We would like to meet with people sooner rather than later for a commencement in the New Year so we highly recommend getting your application in quickly. It may be possible, all going well to complete induction and some mini training before the end of the year depending on your availability.
