Volunteer Position    –    1 day a week       – St Kilda Road location

 Deaf Children Australia is a national organisation whose purpose is to remove barriers to the personal development and social inclusion faced by children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Deaf Children Australia provides a range of support services, information, and community development programs.

We are seeking a volunteer to provide assistance in maintaining our beautiful historic gardens surrounding our heritage gothic bluestone building. Duties include keeping our grounds tidy and undertaking garden duties as seasonally required, ie. pruning, hedging in spring/summer, watering in summer. The volunteer would receive onsite training with these gardening skills as required. This training could include plant identification, pest and disease control and various pruning, fertilising and weed control techniques, depending on the volunteers’ skill levels.

We are looking for a volunteer who is able to attend on a weekly basis with a six month commitment to support our grounds.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Police Check, Working with Children Check and to complete the Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme form.
