The Victorian State Government delivered its budget on Tuesday 1 May.

It did not include the capital funding requested to enable Vicdeaf and Deaf Children Australia (DCA) to proceed with the proposed Deaf Community Centre.

Vicdeaf and DCA, on behalf of the large and vibrant deaf and hard of hearing community, are bitterly disappointed not to have received any Government funding for our Deaf Community Centre.

We had been given very positive feedback about every aspect of our proposal for the Centre and were confident the Government understood how important this Centre was to the Deaf Community.

Vicdeaf and DCA have now been working on this for three years and although this is a major blow we will not give up.

We are seeking a meeting with the Premier and the Treasurer and will inform you of the outcomes of that meeting and the next steps in advancing the Deaf Community Centre.
