Mittagundi has partnered with Deaf Children Australia to support 6 hard of hearing young people to join a group of 14 others from 3 – 9 July on this adventure of a lifetime!

Mittagundi is an Outdoor Education Centre set on a stunning 400 acre property in the foothills of the Victorian High Country. During Winter, groups of around twenty 15-18 year olds will come together for a cross-country ski tour and farm experience. They will learn to ski and snow camp whilst being able to cook, eat and stay warm in the High Country Huts. Friendships are forged and strengthened and new skills acquired – such as milking the cow, chopping wood, baking bread and living life on the farm – all without electricity! There’s even a chance to work with wood and metal in the forge or joinery and to learn practical skills you never expected to.

The atmosphere at Mittagundi is simple, honest and happy. There are no watches, no timetables and no money. Instead there is an opportunity for young people to live and work together in an environment where people matter more than anything else.

Each Mittagundi experience runs for seven days and DCA has six spots available for a cost of $400 (usually $561 per person). This includes all food, gear and accommodation, and Auslan support will be provided on camp. Last year, six deaf and hard of hearing teens went to Mittagundi and had an amazing time bonding and challenging themselves – read their thoughts here or watch the video below created by Ramas, who attended last year’s camp as a communication support worker.
