DCA Recreation is taking a group of young people aged from 14 – 17 on an exciting adventure where they will challenge themselves in new ways. The Mittagundi Winter Camp will run from 6 – 12 July, 2016. Bookings have now closed and the places have all been taken. We hope this will become an annual event so please contact us if you would like to be on the waiting list for 2017 by emailing email@example.com.
This camp is the first partnership program for Mittagundi with Deaf Children Australia. Mittagundi Outdoor Education Centre is an independent non-profit organisation established with the belief that young people, mountains, purposeful work and challenges are natural partners. The main purpose of Mittagundi is to provide programs for young people (aged 14 to 17 years) to explore Victoria’s high country and themselves.
The beautiful 400 acre pioneer-style farm is located near the old gold mining town of Glen Valley, on the Upper Mitta Mitta River, north of Omeo, VIC (approximately 6 hours from Melbourne). Young people are challenged to experience life without modern gadgets, makeup, time or electricity. Instead they will be invited to contribute to daily life on the farm and challenge themselves through new experiences with the natural world and others. And you get a chance to ski the High Plains!
The atmosphere at Mittagundi is simple, honest and happy. There are no watches, no timetables and no money. Instead there is an opportunity for young people to live and work together with others in an environment where people matter more than anything else. To understand what the camp is all about, watch a short film and view the flyer.
