Do you want to join us for a fantastic free Family Camp at The DOXA Malmsbury Camp? Deaf and hard of hearing children and their families are invited to register for this camp running from Friday 20 October – Sunday 22 October 2017.

Ashlee, Olivia and Alexandria became great friends on camp

There will be plenty of excitement and opportunities to make new friends with activities such as:

    • Giant swing
    • Challenge ropes course
    • Trampolines
    • Family challenge
    • Archery

For the parents, this is a great way to connect with other families and share experiences, and learn more about how to engage with early intervention services, schools and other supports for the best outcome for your child and your family. Participants will be consulted regarding the activities and workshops to cover the topics most important to you.

Nine year olds Olivia and Ashlee and eight year old Alexandria may have never met but they became great friends on a previous camp. Olivia was teaching Auslan to Alexandria and the two of them were then teaching Alexandria’s mum. The girls said, “We like the trampoline, the archery, the loom bands and the food. Ashlee added, “It is exciting to see so many kids with hearing aids. I usually have to cover my hearing aids with my hair because it’s embarrassing. One boy at school absolutely teases me all the time about it. But it’s not like that here.”

Preference will be given to pre-school and primary school students and their families. Other applications will also be considered depending on availability of places.
