Deaf Children Australia and Sign for Work hosted the Youth NDIS Workshop on 7 October, helping deaf and hard of hearing young people and parents of deaf and hard of hearing children to understand what the NDIS can offer them. Participants learned about what types of supports they could access, as well as gaining advice on applying for the NDIS and how the planning process works. Everyone was excited to hear about all the opportunities the NDIS can offer – with a wide range of supports covered from assistive technology to community participation and much more, everyone can access the supports that fit their needs best.

A big thank you to Mija Gwyn and Michael Parremore, who presented to attendees, and to the DCA and Sign for Work staff who helped organise the day. DCA will be holding more NDIS sessions in the future for parents, children and families to make understanding the NDIS easier, so keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates!
