The National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) presents exciting opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing children, young people and families like yours.

The introduction of the NDIS means we have a new era in support for people with a disability. Services will be available to more people, they will be built around the needs and goals of the individual and flexibly tailored to promote greater levels of independence, stronger relationships and a sense of community belonging.

If an individual has a permanent disability that significantly affects their communication, mobility, self-care or self-management, they may be eligible for services through the NDIS. This can include children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The below sections provide information in plain text that can be translated and is available in captioned Auslan videos which cover About the NDIS and Applying for the NDIS.

Deaf Children Australia’s NDIS services are flexible and can be adapted to address your child’s personal goals and dreams.  View our NDIS services booklet by clicking the cover image above or view the Auslan NDIS statement on YouTube.
