The National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) presents exciting opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing children, young people and families like yours.

The introduction of the NDIS means we have a new era in support for people with a disability. Services will be available to more people, they will be built around the needs and goals of the individual and flexibly tailored to promote greater levels of independence, stronger relationships and a sense of community belonging.

If an individual has a permanent disability that significantly affects their communication, mobility, self-care or self-management, they may be eligible for services through the NDIS. This can include children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

If your child is considered eligible to receive services when the NDIS becomes available in your community, they could access new services and supports in a completely different way.

Visit to find out more about the scheme, who is eligible and how your child may be able to receive support.

Deaf Children Australia’s NDIS services are flexible and can be adapted to address your child’s personal goals and dreams. They can be built into their own NDIS service plan so your family will be able to access services how and when your child needs them.

DCA can provide NDIS services to help your child on their journey to realise their aspirations. This is a journey that could last a lifetime and take them places they may never have dreamed they could go.
