Tom Dunn has just departed for his epic SUP4DCA trek, travelling from Warwick in Queensland to Goolwa in South Australia by stand up paddleboard. Along the way he aims to raise $60,000 for DCA to support deaf and hard of hearing children in rural areas through the DCA Video Outreach Program.

We spoke to Cate, Tom’s sister and his inspiration for the trek, about growing up deaf in a rural area and her advice for parents of deaf and hard of hearing children, as well as inspiring her brother Tom to travel 3,750 km down Australia’s longest continuous waterway to raise funds for DCA.

See the interview with Cate in Auslan below (captions available).
