North Dandenong Junior Football Club is hoping to provide the opportunity for a young deaf footballer to improve his game through accessing Australian Sign Language (Auslan) interpreting services. The keen Under 11 footballer hopes to get support from a volunteer interpreter throughout the season, which runs until August.

DCA is hoping to be able to find an interpreter (qualified or in training) or a communication assistant who would be able to provide communication support at the Sharks team’s Sunday matches which will be held in Dandenong North and surrounding suburbs. An interpreter is also needed for Friday night training at the North Dandenong Junior Football Club ground from 5 – 6pm.

This could be a great opportunity for students to build up their hours of experience and at the same time, help a young footballer participate more fully in his favourite sport.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Police Check and Working with Children Check. We will cover costs for this process. Please contact DCA Family Support Worker Alice Brennan on 9539 5304 or email alice.brennan@deafchildren.org.au if you are interested in this voluntary position.
