Since 2015, DCA has been holding classes for deaf and hard of hearing children and their families to come together and learn to sign in a supportive environment. Children have the chance to play with their friends and practice Auslan while parents learn separately, then everyone joins together to show off their new skills!
Auslan for Families classes run over a 10-week term and are held on Sundays (morning and afternoon sessions) at DCA. $100 covers the whole family to learn – this can include parents/guardians, aunties, uncles, grandparents or anyone who is keen to join in.
For those who can’t make it to Melbourne on a Sunday, we also offer Auslan Video Outreach, where deaf and hard of hearing children can learn to sign with families over Skype or videoconferencing. Learn more about Video Outreach here.
If you are interested in joining an Auslan for Families class or accessing Auslan Video Outreach, email email@example.com or call 03 9539 5300.
Auslan for Families classes are proudly supported by the Collier Charitable Fund, Wisewould Mahony, Beulah Capital, Grill’d St Kilda and SUP4DCA.
