Join us for Auslan for Families
Learning Auslan together helps to strengthen language learning – families can take their knowledge home and practice together! If you are deaf of hard of hearing, this is a great opportunity to build your Australian Sign Language (Auslan) skills together with your family. Supervised recreation will be provided for around an hour for children, during which time you will have the opportunity to practise your Auslan informally and have fun with friends. Children and adults also come together for part of each class so that everyone can learn together!
The ten week course will run from 10:30am – 12:30pm and 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm each Sunday from 11 February during school terms.
Venue: Fenton Hall, Deaf Children Australia, 597 St Kilda Rd Melbourne
Parking is available onsite for Auslan for Families. Enter DCA car park from High Street. Fenton Hall is next to the car park and Tradeblock Café.
Fees: $100 per semester covers the whole family to learn Auslan
Auslan Video Outreach
If you can’t make it to Auslan for Families in person – you can apply for Auslan Video Outreach! Auslan Video Outreach lets families from all over Australia link in using their home computers or other devices and learn Auslan together with a DCA Auslan tutor. The program is available now and can be included as part of your NDIS plan.
If your area does not have the NDIS yet or you are not currently accessing the scheme, you can still enrol in Video Outreach! DCA is able to provide Auslan Video Outreach at no cost until the NDIS is fully rolled out thanks to the generous support of SUP4DCA and its supporters.
Registrations for Auslan for Families classes close 3 February for classes beginning 11 February. Registrations for Auslan Video Outreach are available year round! To enquire about Auslan for Families or Video Outreach, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
*Auslan for Families classes and Auslan Video Outreach is proudly supported by the Collier Charitable Fund, Wisewould Mahoney, Beulah Capital, Grill’d St Kilda and Stand Up Paddleboarding for DCA (SUP4DCA).
